As a member of the red hand quintet and the dominant figure in his own quartet and trio, he made significant contributions to the Beijing jazz music. He earned a bachelor's degree in performance from the university of northern Iowa at music in 2006 and a master's degree in jazz performance from the city college of New York in 2011.
