25年林肯中心爵士乐团成员的经历，让他深谙世界顶级乐团运作与精粹的核心法则。

Led by saxophone legend Walter Blanding, leader of the JALCSH Big Band. With 34 years of global performance experience and 25 years as a Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra member, he brings world-class insight directly to our stage.

他参与录制超过40张专辑，最新专辑《Fantasy in Blue》旨在探索文化差异与共融之美。出生于俄亥俄州克利夫兰，在纽约长大，他曾旅居以色列四年，被《新闻周刊》国际版称为“以色列爵士大使”，并在当地创办音乐学校。2018至2020年，他担任林肯中心爵士乐上海分部爵士大使，致力于艺术与文化推广。目前，他在密歇根州立大学担任爵士萨克斯助理教授，持续通过音乐教育影响新一代音乐人。

**Walter Blanding** is an internationally acclaimed saxophonist with over 34 years of artistic career, performing across the globe. He first gained recognition with the 1991 album *Tough Young Tenors*, hailed as one of the year's best jazz recordings. Since then, he has left his mark on five continents with his exceptional musical and spiritual influence.

He has performed and recorded with numerous contemporary music giants, including Cab Calloway, Billy Eckstine, Roy Hargrove, Branford Marsalis, Aretha Franklin, Paul Simon, and Joshua Bell. As a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra for 25 years, he has shared the stage with legendary figures such as Chick Corea, Dave Brubeck, Willie Nelson, Tony Bennett, and Elton John. Additionally, he has collaborated with world-class orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra.

Blanding has received numerous accolades, including a Pulitzer Prize for his contribution to the Wynton Marsalis Quintet album *From Billie Holiday to Edith Piaf*, and has been part of Grammy-winning projects. He has performed at the inaugural celebrations for both President Bill Clinton and President Barack Obama. His screen appearances include *The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel* and *The Cosby Show*, and he has been inducted into the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.

He has participated in over 40 albums, with his latest release *Fantasy in Blue* exploring the beauty of cultural differences and commonalities. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in New York, he lived in Israel for four years, where he was dubbed "Jazz Ambassador" by Newsweek International and founded a music school. From 2018 to 2020, he served as Jazz Ambassador for Jazz at Lincoln Center Shanghai, dedicated to arts and cultural promotion. Currently, he is Assistant Professor of Jazz Saxophone at Michigan State University, continuing to influence a new generation of musicians through education.
